An attorney serving on the unit has the same authority to represent this state in the prosecution of a criminal offense committed by a person civilly committed as a sexually violent predator under Chapter 841 , Health and Safety Code, including an offense under Section 841.085 , Health and Safety Code, as is conferred on a prosecuting attorney of a court with jurisdiction of the offense. Added by Acts 2025, 89th Leg., R.S., Ch. 1145 (S.B. 1610 ), Sec. 24, eff. September 1, 2025.
