(a) The definitions under § 1209 of this title apply to §§ 1211 and 1212 of this title. (b) As used in § 1211 of this title: (1) “Protective hairstyle” includes braids, locks, and twists. (2) “Race” includes traits historically associated with race, including hair texture and a protective hairstyle.
