The inspector general shall employ and commission peace officers for the purpose of assisting a state or local law enforcement agency in the investigation of an alleged criminal offense involving a patient of a state hospital. A peace officer employed and commissioned by the inspector general is a peace officer for purposes of Article 2A.001 , Code of Criminal Procedure. Added by Acts 2013, 83rd Leg., R.S., Ch. 395 (S.B. 152 ), Sec. 3, eff. June 14, 2013.
