Ind. Code § 5-14-9-1 "Appointed officer"

Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "appointed officer" means an unelected or elected officer of the state or a political subdivision who is appointed to serve on a board by an appointing authority. As added by P.L.65-2025, SEC.1.

Ind. Code § 5-14-9-2 "Appointing authority"

Sec. 2. As used in this chapter, "appointing authority" means: (1) an elected officer; or (2) a board of members who are all elected officers; of the state or a political subdivision. As added by P.L.65-2025, SEC.1.

Ind. Code § 5-14-9-3 "Board"

Sec. 3. As used in this chapter, "board" means a board, body, committee, commission, or any other instrumentality of the state or a political subdivision. As added by P.L.65-2025, SEC.1.

Ind. Code § 5-14-9-4 "Political subdivision"

Sec. 4. As used in this chapter, "political subdivision" has the meaning set forth in IC 36-1-2-13. As added by P.L.65-2025, SEC.1.

Ind. Code § 5-14-9-5 "State"

Sec. 5. As used in this chapter, "state" means any of the following: (1) A department, commission, division, authority, board, bureau, or office of state government that exercises any: (A) executive including administrative; or (B) legislative; powers. (2) Any statewide elected official. (3) A body corporate and politic of the state created by state statute. (4) A state educational institution (as defined in IC 21-7-13-32). Ind. Code § 5-14-9-6 Publication of notice or agenda; required information

Sec. 6. Except as provided in section 8 of this chapter, any board meeting notice or agenda must provide the following information regarding each appointed officer serving on the board: (1) The officer's name. (2) The appointing authority. (3) The beginning and expiration date of the officer's term of appointment. As added by P.L.65-2025, SEC.1. Amended by P.L.230-2025, SEC.11.

Ind. Code § 5-14-9-7 Internet publication of information concerning appointed officers

Sec. 7. The information under section 6 of this chapter regarding a board's appointed officers shall be: (1) published on: (A) the board's website, if any; or (B) the appointing authority's website, if any; or (2) published on the Internet through the computer gateway administered by the office of technology established by IC 4-13.1-2-1, if the board or appointing authority does not have a website. Ind. Code § 5-14-9-8 Committee, subcommittee, or other subgroup of an elected body; meeting notice; agenda

Sec. 8. (a) This section applies to an appointed board that is a committee, subcommittee, or other subgroup of an elected body appointed entirely: (1) from the body's elected members; and (2) by a member or members of the elected body. (b) The requirements of section 6 of this chapter are satisfied if the appointed board's meeting notice or agenda provides both of the following: (1) Each appointed officer's: (A) name; and (B) title of elected office. (2) If the meeting notice or agenda is in: (A) electronic form, the link to the website; or (B) printed form, the web address of the website; under section 7 of this chapter where the information set forth in section 6 of this chapter is published.
